ABOUT THIS ANIMAL:

LOCATION: Trails Home Farm, 2581 Winchester Rd, Delaplane, VA

ADOPTION COORDINATOR: Trails Home Farm Staff

HOW TO MEET THIS ANIMAL: All dogs located at Trails Home Farm are in Delaplane, VA and require an appointment for approved applicants to have a meet and greet.

ADOPTION FEE: $475. This fee INCLUDES spay/neuter and microchip. **Ask me about our many adoption benefits that include free exams, pet insurance, training and other discounts!

ESTIMATE WEIGHT FULL GROWN: 30 lbs

KNOWN WITH DOGS: His previous shelter said that he loved the play yard! At Homeward Trails, he has been far more likely to just hang out with the dogs here.

KNOWN WITH CATS: Orton is very curious with cats and barks at them when they move or hiss, but doesn't pursue them. We believe he should do fine with slow intro and transition.

KNOWN WITH KIDS: Orton has done well with children he met at adoption events. He does like to chase when kids run in playful manner, thus supervision is always recommended.

KNOWN COMMANDS: Orton has hard time focusing to learn commands with so much noise at the shelter, but with his love for treats, he should be a quick study in a quiet home setting.

KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING &/OR CRATING: Orton appears to be housebroken. He has trouble settling in his crate with lots of noise around him. He may settle faster in a quieter setting.

KNOWN LIKES: Affection, dogs, treats, play yards, and training.

KNOWN DISLIKES: Loud kennel life

Orton is from one of our rural shelter partners. He is a total love bug who craves affection. He will lean hard against you to get your attention for some scratches. He will stare into your eyes with his big brown eyes as you instantly fall in love with him. The kennel life is overwhelming for this little sweetheart and we would like to prioritize getting Orton into a foster home, so he has an opportunity to relax and destress.
