Help Us Give These Very Special Pets a 2nd Chance At Life
The animals featured here are some of the hundreds who have treatable but costly illnesses and injuries that Homeward Trails rescues every year. We have limited resources and must make life and death decisions weekly. Too often, these animals are left behind in shelters simply due to cost. We need extra help to take in animals whose care will cost more and for animals who may be with us longer as they recover.
Your sponsorship of an animal will save a life in real time. Every donation helps save a life.
Please, consider a tax-deductible donation today to help these animals. They deserve a 2nd chance at life. And together, we can give them that.
COAL & SIBLINGS
Puppies battling parvo!
We are desperate for your help with these puppies. Coal is a 6 week old pup who seemed healthy and then all of a sudden, he stopped eating and drinking and was lethargic. Fluids and supportive treatment didn’t help and so Coal was rushed to the ER vet where he was diagnosed with parvo.
While fighting for his life, two of Coal’s siblings began going downhill and quickly lost their fight with parvo. One by one, his 5 other siblings all began showing symptoms. Parvo comes on quickly and can take a puppy’s life in what seems like the blink of an eye. Puppies with parvo require around-the-clock care and monitoring, something that quickly adds up to a huge vet bill. But helping a puppy fight for their life is worth it. Please help Coal and his siblings keep fighting.
LEVI
He broke his leg!
Levi was wrestling with his brother when things got a little out of hand. Suddenly, Levi started crying, growling and holding his back leg up. Once we got him to the vet, X-rays showed a fracture. We’re hopeful that his leg can be splinted and it will heal, but that means regular trips back to the vet to have the split changed and repeated x-rays to ensure everything is healing. Please help Levi get back on (all of) his feet again!
CLYDE THE BEAGLE
He’s in bad shape
Clyde is a 12 year old beagle who was recently surrendered to a rural shelter after the only owner he’d ever known entered assisted living. Clyde has a host of medical issues that now need to addressed to give him the best life possible.
Clyde’s eyes seem to be bulging out of his head and at first we were worried he might have a tumor. But it seems that his dental health is so bad it’s causing the issues with his eyes. Between his mouth and his eyes, Clyde is in a lot of pain. We can help alleviate that pain by getting him a dental IMMEDIATELY! His canine teeth are either broken or worn down almost to the gum lines and he has a lot of inflammation.
Clyde’s been through so much, but we can help him have the most comfortable golden years surrounded by love. Please help Clyde get the care he so desperately needs!
BOO BOO & BUDDY
They need eye surgery!
Boo Boo and Buddy had untreated infections as kittens that have left their eyes permanently damaged. They each need to have one of their eyes removed so that they don’t struggle with pain and continuing infections. By removing their diseased and injured eyes, they’ll be able to live the rest of their lives to the fullest. We just need your help to cover the costs.
ELLEN
She needs surgery on both back legs!
Ellen needs surgery on both back legs for her luxating patellas. When she tries to run and play, she’ll hold her legs up or hop, unable to keep up with her dog friends. Sometimes she even struggles to stand up. We’re hoping that if she can get both legs done at the same time her recovery will be shorter. And that she’ll soon be back to playing with her friends without missing a step.
STRAUSS
Help us find out what’s wrong!
It started with an upset stomach and vomiting. But then Strauss quickly became lethargic and was vomiting blood and having uncontrollable diarrhea. We rushed Strauss to the vet where the worry was he ingested something he shouldn’t have. X-rays weren’t definitive but he is responding to supportive treatment. Strauss will need to be watched closely and will need repeat lab work while we see what’s causing his symptoms.
