Volunteer

You will find a number of opportunities that allow you to participate in a meaningful way with the flexibility to participate as your schedule allows:

• Fostering – Provide a temporary home for a rescued animal until a permanent one can be found. If you're interested in fostering, please check out the page about the Foster Program.
• Conducting home visits – Ensure a potential adopter's home provides a quality environment for our animals
• Transportation – Drive animals from our shelters partners, to and from adoption events and medical visits and help meet transports when they arrive.
• Events – Provide support for adoption events and/or special fundraising events throughout the year. To check out some of our upcoming events, go to our Events Page.
• Kitty City - help socialize and clean up after the cats at Kitty City in Arlington, VA
• Fundraise - help us raise needed funds to keep going!

Interested in Fostering

Provide care in your home for rescued animals with support from Homeward Trails, take animals to adoption events.

Interested in Conducting Home Visits

Visit potential foster's and adopters’ homes in your area to ensure a quality home environment. Because no animal can be placed without completion of this step, this is a critical job.

Interested in Coordinating Adoption Events

Plan events by emailing fosters ahead of time, track attendees, ensure there is information on each animal at the event, arrive early to set up, manage logistics, and talk with adopters.

Interested in Handling Animals at Adoption Events

Handle dogs and cats and talk with potential adopters, provide transportation for dogs in boarding.

Interested in Long Transports

Pick up animals from shelter meeting points.

Interested in Short Transports

Take animals to boarding and/or vet appointments, take animals to events.

Interested in Helping at Adoption Centers/Boarding Facilities
